About the Artist
Nora Maité Nieves was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1980. She received a BFA degree from La Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico in 2004 and a MFA degree from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago in 2010. In 2006, Nieves participated in the Summer Residency Program at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Nora Maité has participated in solo shows, and collective exhibitions, like recently Valoarte 2010 in Costa Rica. Nora is an interdisciplinary artist; her artistic practice comes from the experience with painting. Nieves questions the nature of painting and its relationship with the environment in space and time.

Nora Maité Nieves nació en San Juan, Puerto Rico en el 1980. Obtuvo su grado de Maestría en Bellas Artes del Departamento de Fiber and Material Studies en The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, en Chicago, Illinois en el 2010. En el verano del 2006, participó en el programa de residencia artística en The Cooper Union School ot Art en la ciudad de Nueva York. Completó un Bachillerato en Bellas Artes con una concentración en Pintura en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico en el 2004. Nora Maité ha participado de exhibiciones individuales en Puerto Rico y en colectivas locales e internacionales. Nieves es una artista interdisciplinaria su practica parte de la experiencia con la pintura. Ella cuestiona la pintura y su relación con el entorno en espacio y tiempo.
